JOHN RAY

"There is for a free man no occupation more worthy and delightful than to contemplate the beauteous works of nature and honor the infinite wisdom and goodness of God."

JOHN RAY

John Ray formed our modern understanding of biology and zoology. He was the first scientist to classify the major groups of animal and plant species according to biology. He was also the first to date the age of a tree from the rings inside its trunk.

CENTERED ON CHRIST

According to his writings, Ray was a devout believer in Jesus as God. He saw theology (the study of the Christian God) as irrevocably intertwined with science. In addition to his books on science, he wrote several books about God as Creator. In his book titled “The Wisdom of God Manifested in the Works of the Creation” (published in 1691), Ray describes evidence of all nature and space as God’s creation, as stated in the Bible. He wrote about how nature works as a whole in expressing God’s will in His creation.
